The Plainfield Fire Protection District, along with EMS providers across the nation, is recognizing
Emergency Medical Services Week, May 17th – 23rd. The theme for EMS Week 2015 is “EMS STRONG” which
stands for “what draws a special few together to do incredibly important work often under difficult
circumstances, and many times with little thanks.” The EMS Strong campaign seeks to celebrate, unify and
inspire the men and women of our nation’s emergency medical services. Created by the American College
of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in partnership with the National Association of Emergency Medical
Technicians (NAEMT), EMS Strong brings together associations, EMS services, sponsors and national media
to honor the dedication of EMS practitioners nationwide.
EMS Strong seeks to encourage EMS practitioners with the knowledge that they are part of
something very special and provide the resources for them to maintain composure when the going gets
tougher than most people can imagine. To inspire EMS practitioners to keep learning and growing in a
profession that continues to evolve into a partner with healthcare and to empower them to face danger
when others are running away. In 2014 the Plainfield Fire Protection District responded to almost 5,000
emergency calls. Of those calls just over half of them were for emergency medical assistance. Please join
the Plainfield Fire Protection District in thanking all our Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians for
the job they do!
