There were no injuries in a late morning house fire at 25013 W. Blakely Drive in Plainfield on Thursday, October 15th. At 11:49 am a 9-1-1 call was received reporting a fire in the back of the 2-story, single family home. At 11:56 am the response was upgraded to a full still, which brings in additional firefighting assistance, and the fire was brought under control at 12:32 pm. The fire appears to have started on the rear deck of the house and the windy conditions contributed to the fire spreading into the attic causing considerable fire damage to the attic and exterior of the house. There is smoke damage throughout the interior of the house and it is uninhabitable. The estimated damage to the home is $250,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Plainfield Fire Protection District, the Plainfield Police Department and the MABAS 15 Fire Investigators. Assistance in fighting the fire was provided by Oswego Fire Protection District and the Naperville Fire Department.
